Neil Lennon in 'crazy' ref rant as Celtic hero fails to 'understand' Cypriot officiating in Omonia

Neil Lennon has launched another referee blast with Omonia Nicosia after the former Celtic manager's side 2-0 win over Doxa.

The former midfielder was unhappy with the performance of his side's latest whistler for the length of time taken on decisions like a penalty kick. His side didn't need help from 12 yards though as Bruno Felipe and Roman Bezus goals either side of half-time sealed a big away win ahead of a mouth-watering Europa League clash with Manchester United on Thursday.

It leaves them fourth after five games and two points off first place, the performance of his players leaving Celtic hero Lennon very satisfied. But in his post-match press conference, he was exasperated over the referee's performance, having already served a touchline ban this term. He explained: "I am very happy with the win and performance. I thought the team was fantastic. My only criticism was we had to wait a long time for the second goal.

"Some of the quality of the chances we created were fantastic. The whole team functioned very well. Psychologically it's a huge win for us.

"I am not happy with the referee. I wasn't happy against Paralimni but I did not say much. But his performance... I don't understand the officiating in this country.

"Why it takes them so long to make a decision on a penalty. It drives people - players, supporters, coaches - crazy."
