Neighbours star Ryan Moloney has given his first interview after the soap was recently saved from cancellation.
News that the Australian soap was being brought back by Amazon Freevee after it came to an end following a 37-year run was announced on Thursday.
A host of familiar faces including Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy, and Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi have been confirmed.
Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday, the overjoyed soap star said: “We start shooting again next year, early in the year and then it’ll be on air on [Channel] 10 first, in Australia, at the end of the year. Then it’ll be on Amazon Freevee worldwide.”
He also shared with hosts Kyle Sandilands and Brittany Hockley what he has been doing to fill his time since the show was cancelled in March.
He said: “I’ve been doing a civil construction course. So I’ve been driving excavators and diggers and all that stuff.”
“I’m actually very much looking forward to coming back. I mean, Neighbours itself is one of the best training grounds that Australia actually has... It’s absolutely huge.”
While fans are thrilled by the turn of events, it has since been claimed that while the show previously aired five days a week, that might not be the case this time around.
A source told The Sun: “Fans loved the fact that Neighbours was a soap which was served up on a constant, regular basis — they couldn’t get enough of it.
“And the fact that it was always aired each weekday during its 37-year run was one of the reasons it was special in the minds of devotees.
“So while they’ll rejoice at the news of the revival, they might yet be disappointed by what form it takes.”
