Neighbours' Ryan Moloney hopes to return to acting after pursuing very different career

Neighbours actor Ryan Moloney has said he hopes to continue acting following the show's finale but "in the meantime" will be pursuing a career in civil construction.

The actor, 42, has been a cast member on the soap opera since 1995, when he joined the show as Jarrod Rebecchi – who is better known by his nicknames 'Toadfish' and 'Toadie'.

The long-running show concluded with a double-episode finale this week, marking the end of its almost 40 year run on TV, with its first episode having been broadcast in 1985.

It was revealed earlier this week that Ryan is doing a civil construction course now that he's no longer playing Toadie – and he's since further discussed his plans for the future.

The actor appeared on GB News on Friday, where he was asked what he would like to do next, with him explaining: "I'm not kind of coming up with any preconceived ideas."

He continued: "I'd love to do more acting – more TV and film. I'd love to come over to the UK and have a crack at one of your dramas. That would be absolutely special."

Ryan added: "I'm just not saying no to anything and then in the meantime I'm doing civil construction." He said that he is "about to start" learning the skills of the trade.
