Two people have been rushed to hospital after a house fire broke out in Kirkby.
Witnesses claimed to have seen a bright pink light before hearing a "loud bang" on Quernmore Road, at around 6am on Thursday, January 26. Neighbours said they saw "flames and smoke then billowing out of the home."
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire engines to the scene to put out the fire. It was extinguished by 7am, however, firefighters remain at the scene to carry out investigations and dampen down the property.

Emergency services confirmed that two people, in their 50s, were rushed to hospital. The condition of those involved in the fire is not yet known.
Merseyside Police are also in attendance and are assisting firefighters with enquiries. A spokesperson for the force said: "We are currently at the scene of a fire in Kirkby.
"We received a report at around 6.30am of a fire at a property on Quernmore Road and we attended to assist Merseyside Fire and Rescue. Two people aged in their 50s have been taken to hospital.
"We remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire."
