Neighbours fans have been dealt another blow as programme makers claims it is now set to been axed for good.
Fremantle Media were desperate to find another broadcaster for the Aussie soap which has been a household staple since 1985 but now claim they have been unable to find one, after Channel 5 announced it would no longer be shown on UK screens.
It means the much loved family soap will finish for good this summer after an incredible forty year run.
And UK fans of the show will be gutted to say goodbye to Ramsay Street - after the show's theme tune recently beat Ed Sheeran in the charts.
Neighbours most famous actors include Kylie Minogue, Liam Hemsworth, Jason Donovan, Alan Dale and Margot Robbie and it originally was broadcast on BBC One until 2008, before moving over to Channel 5.
Fremantle Media says they have extensively searched for a new home for the soap after Channel 5 announced plans to drop it.
According to The Sun Fremantle, the production company is set to announce tomorrow (March 3), that they haven’t been successful at finding another channel to take on the show.
An insider told The Sun : "Fremantle have not commented on the situation since the news broke about Channel 5. They have been working tirelessly to secure funding from other networks but sadly they’ve been unable to save the soap.
"The announcement will confirm that the soap will end this summer and that they have been overwhelmed by the love and support from the audience since the news broke."
"There is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make the final few weeks of Neighbours are truly special."
"They are still waiting to hear back from a number of former stars but Peter has agreed to return and will start filming in May."
Ian Smith will return as Harold Bishop, and Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan have also been asked to appear.
The Sun claimed that Peter O’Brien will return as Shane Ramsay.
Fans are still trying to save the show and a petition on Change.org, has over 61,000 signatures at the moment.
