Surrounding Nottinghamshire villages are offering a space for Gotham residents after their village hall was ravaged by a fire. Gotham Memorial Hall, also home to the Orchard Surgery GP practice and a library, was devastated by the blaze on Thursday, February 16.
Members of the community said the damage to the hall, which is used for weddings, children's parties and an array of clubs and classes, was a "massive hit" for the village. However, booking clerk Gill Litchfield said neighbouring villages had offered their own as a space for Gotham residents.
She said people from Clifton, Plumtree and Barton in Fabis had all been in contact with her. "We've had offers from surrounding village halls, if anyone wants to use their facilities they're quite welcome to get in touch with them," she said.

"I've passed their details onto regular users and it's their decision going forward." An investigation into the fire was launched by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service on Friday (February 17).
"At 08.50am today, firefighters from West Bridgford reinspected the scene at Gotham village hall," said a spokesperson. "No further hotspots were discovered.
"The joint investigation into the cause of the fire began at 10.30am today, and will most likely continue for the rest of the day." Ms Litchfield said she had no idea as to how the fire started.
"We don't really know what's happened," she said. "I got a phone call to say there was smoke coming from the building. The loss of the doctors is the biggest impact."
Five fire crews were called to the fire in Nottingham Road on Thursday, with no injuries reported. Patients at the affected Orchard Surgery GP practice are able to use the Orchard Surgery in Kegworth in the meantime.
