Neighbour complaints lead to 11 trees being axed in Ayrshire conservation area

Neighbour complaints have lead to 11 trees being axed in a Kilmarnock conservation area.

Trees are to be felled at Kirklea care home in the town's Dundonald Road after neighbouring properties remonstrated about sap.

East Ayrshire Council approved the application to completely remove the trees after the local authority's outdoor services team concluded that the trees were not of a "high amenity value".

However, it is anticipated that the trees will be replaced.

A report into the matter states: "A tree report which accompanied the application states that there is a mixed species group of trees in the area and there have been complaints from neighbours regarding sap.

"The proposal aims to fell the trees to ground level and replace them with suitable alternatives.

"The proposal to undertake removal of these trees within this conservation area is considered to be acceptable and based on the advice of EAC outdoor services, the trees are not considered to be at risk and there is no requirement to make a TPO [Tree Preservation Order] in respect of the tree."
