Neighbours have left touching tributes outside a flat after a mum and her son were found dead in the property.
West Yorkshire Police said officers found a 30-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son dead in the home in Holbeck, Leeds, on Thursday night.
A message attached to one bouquet of the flowers outside the flat said: "RIP little man. Fly high with the angels and your mum".
Another said: "Rest in peace. The thoughts of us all are with your family.”
Police were called to the property after residents became concerned about the welfare of the mum and her son.
The force said it is not searching for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
One resident told Leeds Live that they had not seen the mum "for a while".
The individual, who did not wish to be named, added: "She was from a different country so we thought she'd gone there for a while."
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At about 9pm on Thursday night, officers attended an address in Cross Ingram Road, Holbeck, Leeds, following concerns being raised about the welfare of the occupants.
"A woman and a child were found dead inside the flat.
"Although formal identification has not yet been completed, they are believed to be a 30-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son, who both lived at the address.
"While enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of their deaths, officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."
Grieving neighbours in Cross Ingram Road said they were shocked by the "tragic" deaths.
A little boy, believed to be aged around eight, was seen crying as he walked past the scene.
One man who lives opposite the property where the mum and her son died, said: "There’s so many rumours flying around you just don’t know do you.
"I was in the house and the police were taking pictures so the flashes were coming through my window.
"I heard she’d been away for some time, some were saying. I’ve just tried to keep to myself. She was from a different country you see [the mum] so we thought she’d just gone there for a while."
One resident told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It’s just utterly tragic. We hadn’t seen them in a few day but nobody thought anything was wrong until the police arrived.
"I’m just in shock and my thoughts go out to the family.”
Another shocked neighbour told The Sun: “It is an awful incident to have happened on our doorsteps and we feel saddened and very sorry for her extended family.
“The boy used to play out with our daughter, not so much this year but many times last summer.
“The little community here is shocked.
“We didn’t see or hear anything but became aware of the tragedy when police arrived last night."
The first floor flat where the pair were found remains sealed off today.
