NEW DELHI: Reigning Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra has received approval from the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) for his preparatory camp in Switzerland on Friday.
Chopra, the Olympic and world champion in javelin throw, is set to undergo a 12-day training camp in Magglingen, Switzerland, in preparation for the Diamond League final scheduled to take place in Eugene, USA, later this month. The MOC has allocated a total of INR 5.89 lakh to support this training camp, which will be conducted from September 1 to September 12.
Neeraj Chopra recently showcased his prowess by finishing second in the Diamond League event held in Zurich, achieving his best throw of 85.71 metres.
Parul Chaudhary, who established a national record with a time of 9:15.31s in the women's 3000m steeplechase event in Budapest and secured a quota for the Paris Olympics, has been included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Core Group.
In the realm of table tennis, ace player Sharath Kamal has received financial support to participate in various events, procure equipment, and hire a personal coach, Chris Pfeiffer, in preparation for the Paris Olympics next year.
The prominent Indian badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be accompanied by masseur Nishant Nagpuri during the China Open, scheduled to be held from September 5 to September 10, providing them with essential support for the tournament.
