Neco Williams is yet to report back for pre-season training with Liverpool after being granted additional time off following international duty last month.
Having helped Fulham win promotion when on loan with the Cottagers last season, the 21-year-old featured three times for Wales during the June international break as they beat Ukraine to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, while Rob Page’s side were also involved in four Nations League group games.
The right-back had been included in the club’s confirmed 19-man squad list, released over the weekend, set to report to the AXA Training Centre for pre-season training. However, the ECHO understands he has been granted extra leave following his international exploits and is now scheduled to link up with Jurgen Klopp ’s squad on Saturday 9 July, along with the rest of their absent internationals, when they fly out to Bangkok for the start of their pre-season tour.

However, while Williams is currently due to fly out to Thailand, his involvement will depend on the outcome of ongoing transfer talks. Liverpool are still involved in talks with Nottingham Forest regarding a move for the Wales international, with club sources still expecting a deal to go through.
The 21-year-old has made 33 appearances for the Reds since being handed his debut by Klopp in October 2019, but has found his game-time limited with Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of him in the pecking order. With Liverpool completing the signing of Calvin Ramsay last month and Williams helping Wales qualify for the World Cup, both player and club are agreed that the time is right for the defender, who will command a £15m asking price, to move on should a suitable offer be made for his services.
