Neco Williams shines as Liverpool man aids Fulham's unstoppable Premier League return

Liverpool continue in their quest for an unprecedented quadruple this season, with a routine win over Watford keeping up the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp's side's next league assignment is a mouth-watering clash at the Etihad next Sunday. It could well be a game that goes a long way to deciding where the title ends up. Before then though, the Reds have a Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica to negotiate.

Away from Anfield though, a clutch of Liverpool players have other causes to fight for as the season nears its conclusion. Here, we check in on how Liverpool's six players out on loan in the EFL got on over the weekend.

Neco Williams

The Wales international goes from strength to strength at loan club Fulham. Saturday saw him post another 90 minutes as the Cottagers sealed a 2-0 win over London rivals QPR. It moves them a step closer to an immediate Premier League return.

Williams burst forward at any attempt against Rangers and provided plenty of energy down the right flank for Marco Silva's side. He made 87 touches of the ball, second only to colleague Tim Ream, and recorded the highest number of aerial duel wins with three. Liverpool have a player who is in stellar form.

Nat Phillips

Another Red chasing promotion with his loan side, Phillips helped Bournemouth to a 3-2 win over Bristol City.

The Cherries are firmly in second spot behind Fulham in the Championship and are six points clear of third-placed Huddersfield with the added bonus of three games in hand. Phillips played the full 90 minutes in an entertaining game, putting in some crucial blocks along the way. He battled well with well-travelled City striker Chris Martin and his 95 touches was only bettered by Adam Smith.

The stats back up Phillips' defensive doggedness with a game-high tally of six interceptions, three clearances and no fewer than five aerial duels won.

Sepp van den Berg

Dutch defender van den Berg was in the unusual position of starting on the bench for Preston North End's game at Derby County. A regular starter, the 20-year-old started on the subs' bench but found himself involved earlier than he might have expected after Liam Lindsay was sent off just after the half hour. A rejig saw van den Berg come on to replace a forward as North End boss Ryan Lowe looked to shore up defensively.

The centre-half acquitted himself well registering an interception and a clearance during his 55 minutes on the pitch but he was powerless to prevent Ravel Morrison scoring the only goal of the game in a match that also saw the hosts end with ten men.

Ben Davies

Centre-half Davies made his first Sheffield United outing in more than three weeks as the Blades were beaten 1-0 at Stoke City. The 26-year-old produced a fine last-ditch interception to deny what looked a certain goal but he will be disappointed with his role in what proved to be the only goal of the game. Josh Tymon was allowed to drift in behind Davies and the ensuing effort deflected off Blades defender John Egan and into the net.

Despite winning two aerial duels and a combined three interceptions and challenges, Davies will no doubt be disappointed with the manner of Stoke's goal.

Sheyi Ojo

Ojo, who only recently returned to action following a two-month injury lay-off, was an unused substitute in Millwall's 2-2 draw at Luton.

Jake Cain

Midfielder Cain has missed Newport County's last four matches with a rib injury. He missed Saturday's 1-0 loss to promotion-chasing Exeter City.
