Neco Williams edges closer to Liverpool exit in £16m transfer deal

Neco Williams has edged closer to a Liverpool exit with the Reds in advanced talks with Nottingham Forest.

The ECHO understands that a deal has not yet been agreed but the two clubs are currently in discussions regarding a £16m package for the Wales international.

Having helped Wales qualify for the World Cup last month, the 21-year-old is currently on extended leave following Liverpool ’s return for pre-season on Monday, but is scheduled to link up with Jurgen Klopp ’s side on Saturday when they fly out to Bangkok for the start of their pre-season tour should a transfer not yet be finalised.

The defender spent the second half of last season on loan with Fulham, helping them win promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners, but could now be set for a move to their fellow newly-promoted side with club sources confident a transfer will be agreed.

Williams is poised to follow Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi out of the Anfield exit door as a result, with a £16m package set to take Liverpool’s overall incomings from player sales this summer to a potential £66.5m including add-ons.
