As of midafternoon on Friday, nearly 9% of all American flights have been canceled, according to Cirium, an aviation analytics company. This equates to a total of 2,382 flights being canceled, representing 8.9% of all domestic US flights.
Delta Airlines stands out with the highest number of cancellations, accounting for 1,176 flights, which is approximately 23.5% of its schedule. United Airlines follows with 515 canceled flights, while American Airlines had to cancel 454 flights.
For affected travelers, the situation is compounded by delays. Cirium reports that 57% of flights in the United States have experienced delays of at least 30 minutes. This means that even for flights that manage to take off on Friday afternoon, the likelihood of passengers reaching their destinations on time is slim.
