KARNAL: The scientists of National Dairy Research Institute developed a “Milk Protein-Enriched Millet Biscuits”. Dheer Singh, Director and Vice Chancellor of the institute launched the product for sale at NDRI Milk Parlour as a healthy option for consumers.
Dheer Singh said that NDRI is celebrating the International Year of Millets-2023 through the organization of various activities. As part of this, Milk Protein-Enriched Millet Biscuits have been developed at Dairy Technology Division and produced under the Students' Experiential Learning Unit and Agri-Business Incubator of NDRI.
Singh briefed the genesis of the global celebrations of IYOM-2023 and lauded the initiatives taken by Government of India for promoting millets through Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
He has highlighted the role of millets in ensuring nutritional security for all segments of the society. Further, he informed that several new milk-millet-based food products would be soon launched at the milk parlour.
On this occasion, the director informed the importance of different millets and their role in human health especially in the lifestyle related to non-communicable diseases.
Dheer Singh appreciated the efforts of Dairy Technology Division for developing a number of Milk-Millet-based food products.
On this occasion Ashish Kumar Singh, Joint Director (Academics), Heads of Divisions, Faculty Members, Students and other Staff members. The programme was coordinated by P. Narender Raju, Sr. Scientist and Nodal Officer (IYOM-2023).
