Ahead of the season — and at the urging of Giants owner John Mara — the NFL announced that it would put an added emphasis on taunting penalties. Point at an opponent: It’s 15 yards. Look at an opponent the wrong way after a touchdown: It’s 15 yards.
It wasn’t the kind of rule change that drifted back to the norm as the season progressed. And Sunday’s NFC Divisional round matchup between the Rams and Buccaneers had the latest example of a terrible taunting penalty.
