CBS and Paramount+ Australia have officially announced the renewal of 'NCIS Sydney' for a second season. The series, a groundbreaking addition to the 'NCIS' franchise, made its debut in November 2023, marking the first international iteration of the popular show.
'NCIS Sydney' is the fifth installment in the 'NCIS' franchise, joining the ranks of the still-airing 'NCIS' and 'NCIS: Hawai'i,' as well as the concluded series 'NCIS: Los Angeles' and 'NCIS: New Orleans.'
The show is set against the backdrop of escalating international tensions in the Indo-Pacific region. It follows a team of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police as they collaborate within a multi-national task force to combat naval crimes.
The stellar cast of 'NCIS Sydney' includes Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes. The series is helmed by showrunner Morgan O'Neill, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Sara Richardson and Michele Bennett. Endemol Shine Australia is the production company for CBS Studios, while Paramount Global Content Distribution manages international territories outside of Australia.
Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the show's success, stating, 'The global power of the 'NCIS' franchise became even stronger on broadcast and streaming with the addition of 'NCIS: Sydney.' Our American viewers have fully embraced these engaging characters, unique stories, and the fabulous Australian scenery. We are thrilled to bring this show back to CBS next season and spend even more time down under.'
Executive producer and showrunner Morgan O'Neill shared his excitement for the show's renewal, saying, 'We're beyond stoked with the response to the first season of the show, both in Australia and around the world, and that the team at 'NCIS: Sydney' is returning for a second season. We're especially thrilled to invite our audience deeper into the lives of our core team, peeling back the layers to find out what really makes them tick. This will be even more important as we see the bonds of the new family tested to breaking point in the face of a much more potent enemy looming on the horizon.'
