Oklahoma State starting quarterback Alan Bowman received a seventh year of eligibility on Thursday following a successful waiver request to the NCAA.
The soon-to-be 24-year-old Bowman originally enrolled at Texas Tech in 2018 and played for coach Kliff Kingsbury. For context, Kingsbury has since left Texas Tech, coached the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL for four seasons, and was an analyst at USC last year, all while Bowman continues to play quarterback at the collegiate level.
Bowman left Texas Tech following the 2020 season, then enrolled at Michigan for two seasons before ending up at Oklahoma State in ’23. Per the NCAA, Bowman met the criteria for an extension of eligibility due to a season-ending injury in ’19 while at Texas Tech, combined with a redshirt year at Michigan and a free eligibility year due to COVID in ’20.
Bowman played in all 14 games for Oklahoma State this season, completing 60.7% of his passes for 3,460 yards and 15 touchdowns to 14 interceptions.
