The Sydney Kings have retained another piece of their championship-winning team, signing grand-final hero Angus Glover to a new two-year contract.
Glover played a pivotal role in the decisive fifth game of the championship series despite suffering from abdominal spasms that left him struggling to talk and stand upright in the second half.
Despite the injury, the bench guard came up with a play that turned the game midway through the last quarter, rebounding his own three-point attempt when it deflected from the backboard and then charging along the baseline to dunk.
Glover, 24, famously underwent three ACL reconstructions before finally earning consistent time on the floor with the Kings in back-to-back championship seasons.
"He's gone through plenty of adversity in his young career but through hard work and dedication, he has come out the other side a better player," Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said.
"Angus is one of the leaders of this group - we're so proud to call him one of our own for another two seasons."
Glover's fellow championship-winning Kings Shaun Bruce, DJ Vasiljevic, Jaylin Galloway and Jordan Hunter are all contracted for next season, when Sydney will attempt to pull off their first three-peat since 2003-2005.
"It (re-signing) was a pretty easy decision to make really," Glover said.
"To win back-to-back championships and to see the vision the club has going forward, why wouldn't I want to be a part of it?"
Glover's re-signing comes as Kings forward Justin Simon joins Italian side Scaligera Verona. His short-term contract with the European team will finish by the beginning of the next NBL season.
The Kings are yet to confirm whether their import trio of Simon, Derrick Walton Jr and Tim Soares will return.
