After a tumultuous season with the Grizzlies, Dillon Brooks’s time in Memphis is coming to an end as the team decided he will not return “under any circumstances,” according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Brooks made headlines for all the wrong reasons, as his trash talk towards LeBron James and the Lakers backfired when Los Angeles defeated Memphis in six games. That, combined with Brooks’s antics over the years, has the Grizzlies ready to move on when Brooks becomes a free agent.
As expected, NBA Twitter had a field day after Charania used the phrase “under any circumstances” to describe how much they wanted Brooks off the team.
“Under any circumstances” is taking me tf out.

The "under any circumstances" is so cold. If the Bass Pro Shops pyramid starts communicating with aliens and they abduct Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, Brooks shouldn't check his phone https://t.co/7MRKgzVCmU

it's the "under any circumstances" which gets me. in the event of a global catastrophe which incapacitates all basketball players except Dillon Brooks they're still saying no https://t.co/UV9MrOoJwR

On the other hand, a few people believe the Grizzlies are using Brooks as a scapegoat after the season went haywire, which included multiple legal incidents involving star Ja Morant.
Whatever the reason, Brooks will have to find a new team this summer as he continues his NBA career. Wherever Brooks goes, he will have to repair a reputation that has clearly taken a hit this season.
