The Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to a trade with the Dallas Mavericks, sending the No. 12 pick and a trade exception in exchange for the No. 10 pick, which was used to draft Kentucky guard Cason Wallace, and Davis Bertans.
Bertans is owed $33 million over the next two seasons, with an early termination option for the 2024-25 season. In 45 games last season, he averaged 4.6 points on 43.1% shooting and 1.2 rebounds. He also shot 39% from 3 on 3.1 attempts.
Wallace played one season at Kentucky, where the 19-year-old averaged 11.7 points on 44.6% shooting, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He also shot 34.6% from 3 on an average of four attempts per game.
The Thunder adds another lottery talent to their young core of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey and Ousmane Dieng.
Let’s look at the best tweets reacting to the draft-night trade.

I had Cason Wallace at #6 on my Big Board.
One of the best talents in the draft.
Elite defender. Vastly underrated scorer, shooter and playmaker. Two way player.
Home run pick for OKC.

I drafted Cason Wallace for OKC last week in the Grizzlies’ annual mock draft. ⬇️
You can see in this how high I am on Wallace.
(Last year I selected Holmgren in this draft and the year before I selected Giddey… stay tuned next year to find out who OKC will draft.) https://t.co/EKAImNKJd1

Cason Wallace makes a lot of sense for the Thunder. Great defender, high level competitor, and has upside on the offensive end.
