After not being able to shake the 19-win San Antonio Spurs through three quarters, the Golden State Warriors went into the fourth quarter on Friday night trailing by one point in a potential surprise upset.
However, the Warriors turned it on when it mattered most in the final frame. Steph Curry notched 16 fourth-quarter points while Klay Thompson added 11 points with three triples each. The Warriors blitzed the Spurs for 43 points in the fourth quarter to secure their second straight victory at home, 130-115.
Coming off 39 point performance on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, Curry tallied a game-high 33 points against the Spurs on 11-of-21 shooting from the field with seven made 3-pointers in 33 minutes.
Curry’s fellow Splash Brother recorded a 30-point performance of his own with 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field with seven made triples. Thompson added two boards, two assists and a steal in 34 minutes.
Jordan Poole fueled Golden State’s second unit with 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor with six made 3-pointers to go along with six dimes, two rebounds, a steal and a block in 27 minutes off the bench.
With the Warriors clinging to a six-point lead with six minutes remaining in a tight game, Gary Payton II drilled a clutch 3-pointer to extend Golden State’s advantage to nine. Payton II later came up with a block over Malaki Branham that lead to the Warriors taking a double-figure lead with under five minutes remaining. Payton II finished with seven points on 3-of-5 shooting in 18 minutes off the bench in his third game back since returning from injury.

Looks like 43 wins would be enough for the Warriors to secure the No. 6 seed. The safest bets for two more wins are at home against OKC on Tuesday and the regular season finale in Portland.
