On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers embarked further down the road of roster continuity by reportedly giving forward Jarred Vanderbilt a four-year contract extension that will be worth $48 million.
The fourth year of the extension will be a player option, which will help ensure that their new and talented core will be together for at least a couple more years.
Buy Lakers TicketsVanderbilt, who arrived in February’s Russell Westbrook trade, was a significant reason why Los Angeles turned things around. His defensive effectiveness and versatility helped the team rank fourth in defensive rating after the All-Star break.
Fans on X, formally known as Twitter, are generally happy that the 6-foot-8 forward will be continuing to wear the Purple and Gold.
sure his offensive skillset is limited but a guy like Vanderbilt is 100% someone you’d want on your team and he proved that in the playoffs

A bit much I think but he is a solid player. Hope that he develops his shooting this season.

Being lockdown on defense 90% of the game makes up for his offense. As long as he’s not Ben Simmons type useless, he’s gonna get there

High value pickup, locked in long term and I think Jared still has a lot of room to grow.

Just needs that consistent 3pt – 35% minimum and this will be cheap in a year 🤝🏻

Y’all are saying overpay but he may be the most versatile defender in the league with a developing three ball

The youth movement is clear with the Lakers. This roster will finally have some consistency for the next couple of years

🔥🔥. Huge Vanderbuilt fan. Been watching him since he was in Minnesota. One of the most versatile defenders and an improving shooter. Lakers really won this offseason.

my favorite player in the league
just wait until the 3 starts falling, he'll be one of the best two-way big wings in the league

This contract is a value if he makes some small gains offensively but it’s not bad even if he doesn’t. Lakers locking in solid role players around whatever the future may hold is fine with me.
