Through the first five games of the 2023-24 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors have already met the Sacramento Kings twice. Each of the playoff rematches between the Northern California rivals has provided early-season fireworks.
After each team traded buckets throughout the night, a late Steph Curry bucket and clutch defense on the other side of the court gave the Warriors the chance to win late.
While the Kings’ blitzed Curry, Klay Thompson came to the rescue. With time running off the clock, the veteran sharpshooter swished a game-winning step back jumper from the top of the key with 1.1 seconds remaining.
Following Thompson’s game-winning jumper, the Warriors sealed their fourth straight win in five games, 102-101.
Thompson finished with 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field with two assists and two rebounds in 29 minutes. Curry led the Warriors with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor with four made triples.
