After an explosive first quarter, the Golden State Warriors looked on their way to their fourth straight at Chase Center on Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
However, after the Warriors’ 41-point first quarter, the Blazers responded with a haymaker of their own. While Golden State’s offense went cold, Portland cut their deficit to only five points by halftime.
In the third quarter, the Blazers tallied 40 points of their own to take an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter. Despite blowing their early lead, the Warriors didn’t go away in the final frame.
Jordan Poole tallied 11 of his game-high 41 points in the fourth quarter to fuel Golden State’s late comeback. As Poole heated up the offense, Draymond Green led the Warriors on defense. The Warriors surged with a 12-0 run late to steal the comeback, 118-112.
Klay Thompson tallied 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field with seven made triples in 36 minutes. The backcourt duo of Poole and Thompson combined for 72 points to give the Warriors their fourth consecutive win in their final game of the 2022 calendar year.
Following Golden State’s comeback win over Portland, the NBA community exploded with different reactions on Twitter. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Friday night.

Poole bumps his average over 20 points despite shooting 31.5 percent from 3. He’s compensating by taking a more midrange and getting to the line more. His free throw rate is the highest of all Warrior guards.
If his threes start falling more efficiently …

Draymond has some kind of mojo over Portland lol

This was the biggest sequence of Donte DiVincenzo's first season with the Warriors. Up two, DiVincenzo strips Damian Lillard in isolation with 42 seconds left. Then he hits a pick-and-pop dagger 3 with 23 seconds left. pic.twitter.com/JFf8X0Fik7

Eventually, Wiggins will be the head of the snake and DDV and Kuminga coming behind him https://t.co/Yhjwznirzb

They led by 18 in the first half
Fell behind by 11 in the third quarter

Warriors' 118-112 victory over Portland gives them their first four-game win streak this season and puts them above .500 for the first time in three weeks.

Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 118-112 behind Poole's 41 and Thompson's 31. Ten points, 11 rebounds for Draymond Green.
For the second game in a row, Jonathan Kuminga was in the closing lineup and made impactful plays — a big dunk and the assist on Thompson's three.

That's four straight wins without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins to open this eight-game homestand from the Warriors. Beat the Grizzlies, Hornets, Jazz and now Blazers. Jordan Poole scored 41. Klay Thompson 31. Draymond/DiVincenzo/Kuminga important. Wiggins likely back Monday.

What a game. What a finish. And the Warriors have now won a season-best four games in a row (19-18, NBA-best 16-2 at Chase Center.
Jordan Poole finished with 41 points — two points shy of his career high set against Toronto on Dec. 18.

12-2 run for the Warriors over the last three minutes or so to put Golden State up 114-110 with 1:36 to go.
Jordan Poole has his 40 points for the second time in his career. The other way on Dec. 18 v. Toronto (43 pts.)

Jordan Poole: 40 points on 14/22 FG. Ten in the fourth quarter. Warriors closing with Jonathan Kuminga for the second time in three games. He's made some big plays during this late run. Runout dunk and just found Klay Thompson (31 points) for big 3. Warriors up four, 1:36 left.

Draymond probably would not have played tonight if Steph & Wiggs were healthy. He’s having some back issues. But he wanted to be out there with the youngbucks.
