The Boston Celtics have one of the most fearsome defensive anchors in the NBA, Robert Williams III, at their disposal to deter opposing teams from attacking within range of his ultra-athletic reach. They also have a guard who blocks more shots than most big men in the league, Derrick White.
Throw in that the club’s two star wings, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, defensive maestro Marcus Smart, and veteran big man Al Horford all being fairly good at sending errant shots into the stands, and it probably should not surprise anyone that the team with the No. 2 defense in 2022-23 is No. 6 in the league for blocked shots.
As a result, the Celtics featured prominently among the league’s most prolific rejection artists in the NBA’s top 50 blocks of the season video.
