Before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns ranked in the top-10 for the teams that offered the most expensive concession prices. But according to franchise owner Matt Ishbia, things are about to change drastically.
NBA: Suns Offering $2 Concessions Starting Immediately
Prices are up in general around the league. The cost of attending NBA games has never been higher, with ticket prices as well as food and apparel costing families hundreds of dollars just to attend a single game. Ishbia and the Suns will be looking to buck that trend, as they have unveiled their $2 menu that will debut immediately inside of Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix.
Based on Ishbia’s announcement tweet, prices will be slashed by as much as 77%. Hot dogs that were once $9 are now down to $2, and similar price plummets have been placed on bottles of water, soda, popcorn, and bags of chips. The owner stated that a family of 4 used to spend $98 on hot dogs, water, and popcorn, a figure that has been reduced to $24.
“Our fans and community are the foundation of what we do and we will continue to invest in making this the best organization in all of basketball, on and off the court.”
It will be interesting to see if anything is done about the beer prices. According to VinePair.com, the Suns had the 7th most expensive beer prices in the NBA, with a 16-oz cup costing $14.99. That figure was well above the league average of $12.57, and more than double the cost of the cheapest in the league.
Winning starts with our fans. When I walk the concourse at games there aren’t food options for families who don’t want to spend a lot of money. That needs to change, so today we’re rolling out our $2 value menu for all home @Suns games. pic.twitter.com/BsluNoKD5P

And while fans should certainly be excited about the drop in food prices, there are still complaints about the cost of game tickets. More than a handful of responses to Ishbia’s announcement on Twitter were in regard to ticket prices, saying that they won’t be able to enjoy the cheap concessions due to the high get-in prices. But based on our research conducted at the start of the season, the Suns actually have the 11th-cheapest tickets of any team in the NBA.
The Suns aren’t the only that has slashed prices this season. The Utah Jazz have announced similar cost-saving plans, going hand-in-hand with the new hockey team in town. Back in 2018, the Atlanta Hawks and Falcons both famously lowered their concession costs.
