Level Infinite Lightspeed Studios announced that three-time NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns is going to be the icon athlete for its upcoming title NBA Infinite. This makes him as the first official cover athlete for the nonstop mobile basketball action game which comes out February 17.

Towns is three-time NBA All-Star as well as two-time All-NBA Third Team selection. He was also 2016 Kia Rookie of the Year. In six straight seasons, he has managed to make more than 100 3-pointers. In 2022, he became the sixth man in the history of the NBA not only to score 60 points but also gran 15 rebounds in a game. He is the second players in the Minnesota Timberwolves to score 11,000 points and has been able to lead his team to the playoffs in both 2018 and 2022. Towns is also the first player to have won both the Skills Challenge (2016) and 3-Point Contest (2022).

Talking about this milestone, Towns shared that it's been a great honor to have been named as icon athlete for the game. He revealed that the game is, like himself, very competitive in addition to being exciting and fun.

Play-by-Play Calls

While it's exciting to know that NVA Infinite has the star power, fans are sure to love the fact that the play-by-play calls in-game are being done by none other than veteran NBA announcer Mark Jones. This is the same Jones who has managed to call many high-profile games like the NBA Finals on 2011between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat as well as the one for 2022 which was the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics.

Jones also hosted ESPN's SportsCenter coverage of the NBA Finals from 1991 to 1996 and 2007 to 2010. He also called play-by-play for the 2011 NBA Finals for ESPN 3D, and hosted ESPN's coverage of NBA All-Star events, the NBA Draft Lottery, and the NBA Draft presented by State Farm.

Other Sportscasters

Jones won't be the only one making the play-by-play call. That's because the game is also set to features sportscasters coming from other countries. These include:

  • Michael Körner
    • One of the iconic German voices for basketball since the early 1990s.
    • Was one of the voices covering NBA in Germany for over 15 years which included multiple NBA Finals and NBA All-Star Games.
  • Xavier Vaution
    • One of the key people behind basketball coverage for beIN SPORTS France since 2012.
    • Has covered and hosted major events such as All-Star Games and NBA Finals.
  • Minas Gerais
    • A sportscaster since 2011.
    • Earned acclaim for his live play-by-play commentary at major events, including the 2016 Rio Olympics and the NBA Finals in 2018, 2019, and 2022.

NBA Infinite is coming out this February 17 and to be available for Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration is now open.
