NBA Fans Hit Austin Reaves With 'Taylor Swift' Chants After Asking If He's Single

Lakers forward Austin Reaves has been impressing for Team USA during the 2023 FIBA World Cup, leading to some inquiries from fans about his relationship status.

During a sneaker event for his new signature shoe in collaboration with Chinese athletic wear brand Rigorer, Reaves was asked by fans if he was single, to which he responded, “No.”

In turn, supporters in attendance began chanting “Taylor Swift” repeatedly, playing on some recent viral social media memes about Reaves and the world-renowned pop star potentially dating.

Reaves has maintained that he and Swift are not an item, but that hasn’t prevented fans on social media from running with their narrative. When the chant started making its rounds across the room, Reaves could be seen smiling and scratching his head on stage.

The 25-year-old played 17 minutes in the United States’ victory against Greece on Monday. He logged a team-high 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds in the 109-81 win.

Team USA plays next on Wednesday against Jordan in their final matchup of the group stages. They’re currently atop Group C, having won each of their first two games.

While Reaves continues to play well on the international stage, he’s not been able to slip free of the comical accusations regarding a potential relationship with Swift. While he denied being in a relationship, it doesn’t seem he convinced any of the fans in attendance.
