It’s fair to say 76ers fans just want this week to be over. First, James Harden absolutely ripped team president Daryl Morey on Monday as he continues to look for a trade out of Philadelphia and now it appears Joel Embiid has made some noticeable social media changes. In this day and age, changing your online aesthetic as a professional athlete means everything. Most commonly, it’s a sign you’re unhappy if you distance yourself from the team or city.
Fans took notice on Tuesday when Embiid appeared to remove “Processing....” from his X bio—the social media site formerly known as Twitter. He also removed his Philadelphia location as well. Needless to say, fans noticed and let their concerns be known online.
Embiid being unhappy or even considering a change of scenery would be nothing short of disastrous for the 76ers as the franchise continues to find itself surrounded by drama. In the best case scenario, it means nothing and life goes on. But sports fans always assume the worst.
