NBA fans had so many jokes for the hilarious Steph Curry casting choice in FX’s new series Clipped

FX’s Clipped, a limited series that revisits the scandal about former Los Angeles Clipper owner Donald Sterling, debuted on Tuesday. And though the series has garnered a positive reception from critics, fans simply cannot get over some of the casting decisions for the show.

Unlike HBO’s Winning Time — which took the approach of casting people who closely resembled the real-life counterparts — Clipped has been all over the place with its casting choices. For the most part, not a single actor resembles the player or coach they’re portraying.

But no casting decision inspired more jokes than Clipped’s version of Steph Curry. Klay Thompson wasn’t much better. Take a look:

The Steph Curry character only had a few seconds of screen time and no lines, which made the casting decision even funnier. The show really just needed to find someone who looked like Steph to run around for a couple seconds and call it a day. The actor, Malik Akil, has been a good sport about the jokes.

And the jokes really have been great. The next time Steph has a bad game, we know where the meme material is coming from.
