NBA fans bashed D’Angelo Russell for standing idly by as Suns took advantage of 5-on-4 opportunity

The Phoenix Suns got a rare basketball power play thanks to this embarrassing D’Angelo Russell gaffe.

In the second quarter of Wednesday night’s game between the Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves, Russell straight up forgot to check in during a Jaylen Nowell free throw. The Suns regained the ball up 46-37 and then proceeded to play their entire next possession up a man with a 5-on-4 advantage.

Russell, meanwhile, was standing in front of the scorers table until he realized he was supposed to check in. Unfortunately for Russell, Torrey Craig downed a three-pointer to extend the Suns’ lead as soon as he made his presence known on the court.

Ouch. This season, Russell’s had a real rough go of it for the Timberwolves when he’s been on the court. And off it too, apparently.

NBA fans absolutely roasted Russell for the boneheaded move that cost Minnesota an uncontested three points.
