NBA Draft 2023 in full as San Antonio Spurs secure Victor Wembanyama first pick

The NBA Draft kicked off in style in Brooklyn, New York, and perhaps took absolutely nobody by surprise when 7ft 4in Victor Wembanyama was selected first by San Antonio Spurs.

The French phenom, who has been something of a viral sensation over the past year with a series of scarcely believable clips on social media, has at last arrived in the United States. And it became all too much for the 19-year-old once NBA commissioner Adam Silver made things official.

Breaking down in tears, Wembanyama said: "Just accomplishing something that I've been dreaming of my whole life. Hearing that sentence from Adam Silver. I got to cry man. It's a tough league tough to win. Many players have tried to win for years and decades and my goal is to learn as quick as possible and win that ring."

Elsewhere, Brandon Miller pipped Scoot Henderson in the battle for the No. 2 slot and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets. And twin brothers Amen and Ausar Thompson were selected back to back.

Here's how this year's NBA Draft played out in full:
