The NBA 2K20 cover will have a distinct Chicago flavor. Dwyane Wade and Anthony Davis, both natives of the Windy City, will be the cover athletes for the upcoming game. The covers for the Legends, Digital Deluxe, and Standard Edition are in the image above.
NBA 2K20 will release on September 6 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. The game will also be available on Google Stadia when it launches later this year. This year, all three editions will be released on the same day without early access for pre-orders. Here is a look at the first trailer which reveals WNBA integration and some of the first glimpses of the upcoming game.
We don’t know to what degree the WNBA players and teams will be integrated, but it is good to see the ladies represented in the game.
This will be Davis’ second time serving as the NBA 2K cover athlete. He was featured on NBA 2K16 when him, Steph Curry and James Harden had their own covers.
“I’m honored to be back representing NBA 2K,” said Davis. “Being picked as the face of NBA 2K20 means the world to me, and I’m excited for the fans to experience the best sports simulation in the world this Fall.”
Davis has long been a fan of the 2K brand. I interviewed him back in 2013 ahead of the release of NBA 2K14. He talked extensively about his love for the series.
Wade just finished the final season of his soon-to-be Hall-of-Fame career. He has never been an NBA 2K cover athlete.
“I’ve been blessed to spend 16 years of my life playing the game I love at the highest level, and to culminate my career by joining NBA greats as an NBA 2K Legend Edition cover star makes me incredibly proud,” said Wade. “My family and I love NBA 2K, and I’m truly grateful to all of the fans who have watched me, and played as me, throughout the years.”
“The NBA 2K franchise has the distinct honor of selecting the league’s best talent to grace the cover of the game,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for NBA 2K. “Anthony and Dwyane represent everything that makes basketball such a global phenomenon – whether it’s the thunderous dunks, transcendent talent or era-defining legacies – and serve as a true inspiration for the next generation of NBA superstars coming up in the league.”
