On Monday, 2K released the render and rating for its 20th Anniversary Edition cover athlete LeBron James. That would be a big deal any year, but it’s even bigger this time because the first-look render shows James in his new Los Angeles Lakers duds.

Like the previously released Giannis Antetokounmpo render, James’ screenshot shows off a model with muscular definition and more visible sweat.

I’ll have a side-by-side comparison image later that may better detail the differences in graphics. James’ rating is up one point from where it was to end the season in NBA 2K18. LeBron enjoyed an outstanding postseason run despite failing to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA championship.
James raised his scoring averaged almost seven points per game in the playoffs and logged just under 42 minutes per contest. We don’t know what the final ratings will be for all of the players–including league MVP James Harden–but I’d be shocked if LBJ isn’t the highest-rated active star in the game.
In addition to the side-by-side comparison of James and future stars revealed in 2K19, bookmark the Player Rating Tracker to stay up to date as they are released leading up to the September 7 early release.
