Early on Wednesday morning, DeMar DeRozan along with Jakob Poeltl and a conditional pick were traded from the Toronto Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. Already, NBA 2K has DeRozan in his new duds along with his initial in-game rating.

DeRozan is the first pure shooting guard to be officially revealed in NBA 2K19 and his 89 overall rating figures to be one of the highest in the league at his position.

Per his Instagram, it didn’t sound as if DeRozan was thrilled about the trade. Fans in 2K probably won’t have to worry too much about that, at least not at first.

DeRozan, who is set to make $27,739,975 per season for the next two years with a player option for the same amount in the 2020-21 season maintained the same overall rating he finished the campaign with in NBA 2K18. That would leave him equal with LaMarcus Aldridge, the Spurs PF, and it would still represent a formidable one-two punch in San Antonio.
DeRozan is coming off a season that saw him 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He improved his three-point shooting from 26 percent to 31 percent in the regular season. In the playoffs, DeRozan’s numbers took a slight dip. He scored 22.7 per game with 3.6 rebounds and five assists, and his three-point shooting dipped back to just under 29 percent.
How good will the Spurs be in 2K with DeRozan at the shooting guard position? It’s hard to project that in the game as it will be in the real NBA, but it’s clear the two teams and conferences have traded stars.
