Navi Mumbai: Teen bitten by venomous snake at picnic saved

NAVI MUMBAI: An 18-year-old college girl, residing in Kalamboli, was bitten by a Russell's Viper, at Pandavkada hills in Kharghar, where she had gone for a picnic with friends. The snake bit the girl's leg as she unknowingly stepped on the snake's tail, while she was climbing the Pandavkada hills to reach the waterfall. However as she was rushed to the NMMC hospital immediately with the help of an auto driver she was saved. Her friends sought the help of snake catcher Deepak Gaikwad to identify the species of the snake from the pictures they had clicked of the reptile.

The doctors immediately administered her an anti-venom and timely treatment prevented fatality. She is now recuperating at the civic hospital informed the snake catcher. Despite several warnings from the Kharghar police prohibiting citizens from visiting the Pandavkada waterfall to prevent fatal incidents of drowning, picnickers, especially youngsters, continue to break rules and throng the waterfall.
