Nautical Jewelry for a contemporary Princess

Following in the footsteps of Leonor, Princess of Spain...

Sometimes we dive into the vast ocean of the Internet looking for one thing and come to the surface with a completely unexpected discovery. This is the reality we live in, for better or worse. And right now, it could be happening to you, pay attention.

It happened to me recently, probably because of my obsession with everything related to the sea and my weakness for Europe. A news story about the Spanish princess Leonor appeared on my screen.

It turns out that, as part of her training, this young heiress is aboard the Spanish Navy's training ship, the imposing Juan Sebastián Elcano. A true jewel of navigation, elegant and majestic. The ship is scheduled to dock in our country in a few months, and that led me to delve into Leonor, Spain and the fascinating nautical culture on the other side of the Atlantic.

What I found took my breath away: a jewel in itself, but not of royalty, but of creativity. I stumbled upon the unique pieces of Angela Lago, a Spanish designer whose work is much more than jewelry; it is wearable art, constantly inspired by the ocean as her muse.

Angela Lago - jewellery designer

Angela Lago works from a deep spiritual connection with the sea, transforming that passion into jewelry that seems to carry the sound of the waves and the salt air within its curves and textures. Her pieces do not follow trends or bend to commercial whims. Instead, they are a love letter to the ocean and a form of artistic expression that feels both intimate and powerful.

What is fascinating is how her work challenges the rigidity of traditional jewelry. Instead of predictable, polished shapes, Angela Lago offers pieces that breathe authenticity, each marked by the unique touch of the traditional techniques she uses in her workshop. The result is something with soul: jewelry that not only adorns but connects the wearer to the vastness and mystery of the ocean.

Perhaps Leonor, when she disembarks, should discover them too. I am sure she would be delighted, just as I was. Because these jewels are not just for sea lovers, they are for anyone looking for something genuine, something with a story, something that feels like a fresh breeze in a world saturated with monotony.

In the meantime, I'll tell you about my favorites:

This choker is definitely "the piece." It is a choker made of silver ropes and pearls. A piece inspired by the stories that Angela devours about solitary sailors sailing around the world. Everyone seems to agree that the South Seas are Paradise, although the journey to get there or leave there can become hell. The ropes represent the hard part of these stories and the pearls the infinite beauty recounted by all the lucky wanderers of the seas.

Anchor sketch is another of my favourite pieces. Perfect for both men and women. It is inspired by the French navigator, born in Vietnam, Bernard Moitissier. He represents a free spirit and in perfect harmony with the sea.

Atlantic Bracelet is definitely a must have for anyone linked in one way or another to the sea. It is a nautical bracelet that retains the essence of rope bracelets along with the elegance and authenticity of a torc. Simply exquisite. And its proposal to mix fine and raw metals is completely extraordinary.Angela Lago Atlantic bracelet

As for choosing rings, I find it difficult, but I think I'll definitely go for open rings, which can be chosen in thicker or thinner sizes, with Aquamarines, Sapphires, Black Diamonds or Emeralds. I find them perfect because they also seem adjustable. Please..., give me one of each!

Oh, that's right, it was Princess Leonor... Well, for her, the small gold-plated earrings would undoubtedly be the perfect choice, along with the Atlantic bracelet, this outfit is simply foolproof.
