Nationwide customers hit by 'technical issue' on payday

Customers of the Nationwide building society have said they have been unable to pay their bills after a software outage on Monday. According to the website DownDetector, customers have reported problems with online and mobile banking and with moving funds.

The Mirror says the issue meant some Brits could not get their salary payments and settle their bills. Customers started reporting problems at around 4am on Monday

A Nationwide spokesperson said: “There is currently a delay regarding faster payments as a result of a technical issue which we are working hard to resolve.

"Transactions are being temporarily queued while we get services back to normal and will be processed as soon as possible. All other services are working."

Twitter user MRW @Mark11Waters said: "When will I be able to get my wages?"

Another said: "Is there any certainty that it will be fixed today? Because if not then I can’t get my wages and therefore can’t pay my bills."

This is a developing story and we'll update it shortly.
