This home run for Joey Meneses was a decade in the making.
On Tuesday, the Washington Nationals were playing their first game in the post-Juan Soto era as the MLB trade deadline came to a close. While Nationals fans were still reeling from the loss of Soto, they were given quite the heartwarming story to cheer about.
After 10 years of playing in the minors, 30-year-old Meneses finally got called up for his first MLB game on Tuesday to make his debut with the Nationals. And for his first-ever career hit, Meneses went yard in the bottom of the seventh for a solo home run!
First game. First hit. First homer.
Incredible moment for Joey Meneses, who spent 10 years in the minors 🙌

You can’t script it any better than that, honestly. What a moment to remember for Meneses as all his hard work finally paid off.
