National Lottery player from Offaly in 'disbelief' after claiming whopping EuroMillion prize

A National Lottery player from Co. Offaly says they’re in ‘disbelief’ after claiming a whopping €225,634 in last Friday’s EuroMillions draw.

The punter, who wishes to remain private, said they’re still coming to terms with their huge cash haul.

Standing in the National Lottery's Winners Room on Monday November 28, the lucky player revealed that they were so "engrossed in the World Cup" they didn’t even realise they had won anything substantial.

“I was so engrossed in the World Cup and I completely forgot to check my tickets that evening,” they explained.

“It was only later on before bed it clicked with me and I went online to have a look. Well, words just can’t describe the feeling! It was a mixture of shock, disbelief, and excitement.

“I checked the numbers at least four or five times to be sure before I told my partner”, they said.

The winning match 5 plus bonus ticket was sold Monday, November 21 in Spar, Obama Plaza, Moneygall, Co. Offaly.

“I was so worried about looking after the ticket, that I put it in bubble wrap and hid it under my bed!”, they added.

“You took better care of that ticket than you do me”, the winner’s partner joked.

Meanwhile, the National Lottery has also confirmed the winning locations from the November 25 EuroMillions 'Ireland Only Raffle' draw which saw ten players across Ireland win €50,000 each.

Players in Cavan, Cork, Laois, Kildare, Meath, Monaghan, Waterford, and three in Dublin all scooped the special raffle prize which was the fourth of twelve draws in the National Lottery’s ’12 Draws of Christmas’ promotion.

This raffle event means that ten players will scoop €50,000 each in every EuroMillions draw every Tuesday and Friday between November 15 and December 23.

The shops that sold the winning tickets are:

  • Pat’s Store, Main Street, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.
  • G&G Hannon, Church Street, Newmarket, Co. Cork.
  • Spar Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W
  • Breslin’s SuperValu, Rathdowney, Co. Laois.
  • Gala Store, Athgarvan, Co. Kildare.

  • Lottery.ie / Online - Dublin (X2)
  • Lottery.ie / Online - Monaghan
  • O’Hare’s Supermarket, The Brasscock Shopping Centre, Ballinkill, Dunmore Road, Co. Waterford.

The fifth draw will take place this Tuesday, November 29, when ten more players are guaranteed to win the amazing prize.
