National Lottery: Lucky winner scoops £3.8 million Lotto jackpot - check YOUR ticket

A lucky player of the National Lottery is £3.8million richer this evening after scooping the massive jackpot.

Another five people won £1milion each as they matched five of the six main numbers and the bonus ball.

The winning Lotto numbers which have transformed someone’s life in an instant were 05, 16, 24, 34, 44, 57, and the bonus number was 20.

Organisers have now urged people to check their tickets.

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at the National Lottery, hailed the multimillion-pound jackpot as "amazing news".

He added: "Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call to claim this amazing prize."

Seventy ticket-holders bagged £1,750 for matching five of the six main numbers without the bonus ball.

Six players won £13,000 each for matching four of the five winning Lotto HotPicks numbers, which are the same as for the Lotto draw, but nobody got the five required to scoop the £350,000 top prize.

Wednesday's jackpot is set to be £2 million.

Nobody picked the winning Thunderball combination - 02, 21, 25, 34 and 37 plus the Thunderball number, which was 01 - meaning the £500,000 prize went unclaimed.

The news comes shortly after Joe and Jess Thwaite, 49 and 44 were revealed as the winners of the biggest-ever EuroMillions jackpot - taking home a staggering £184million.

The lucky couple, from Gloucestershire, scooped £184,262,899.10 and are now the UK's richest-ever National Lottery winners.

Jess says the inspiration behind their win is her late father, who always played before he passed away.

Jess, who manages the business side of a hairdressing salon she runs with her sister, said: "My dad played the National Lottery all his life and constantly dreamed of winning.

"He'd always ask us what we'd do when we won, how we'd spend it, who we'd treat. It was a regular conversation and I feel like he was preparing us."

The couple, who have been married for 11 years, have two primary school age children.

Joe, a communications sales engineer, also has two children at university from a previous marriage.

Joe said: "The family always ask me if I have a ticket for the big draws.

“While I don’t play every week, I do a Lucky Dip when there is a big jackpot. Although I don’t feel like I’ve had a lot of luck in the past."
