Everyone dreams of winning the lottery but it seems impossible to most.
For some it is an unbelievable reality and in the last year 375 players have become millionaires - a rate of more than one a day - sharing a whopping £1.3bn between them, thanks to Camelot's National Lottery. All you have to do is be in it to win it but the chances of bagging the jackpot are still slim.
The year 2022, we also saw the UK's biggest ever win as an anonymous winner landed themselves £195,707,000 on the Euromillions in July. Andy Carter, Camelot’s senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said: “It’s been the busiest year of millionaire-making, including creating the biggest winners we have ever seen. Supporting our amazing players through these life-changing events is a privilege.”

If you're a builder or a teacher you have a better chance of winning on the National Lottery, according to the data from Camelot, with the jobs topping the table as the luckiest occupations of 2022. They are followed by drivers, retail workers and administration staff on the list.
In a roundup of facts for 2022 Camelot also found the number 39 was the Lotto ball cropping up most often in jackpot-winning combinations; it made 17 appearances. Other “lucky” numbers included 21, 13, 50 and 58. But perhaps it would be wise to avoid number eight as this ball appeared least often in winning selections – coming up just five times.
According to the firm, which says Cancer was the luckiest star sign for players in the 2022. It is also good news for those who are Leo and Aries, as they are the joint second-luckiest star signs.
