The astrologer Mystic Meg - who became a household name in the 1990s on the National Lottery - had died. The 80-year-old, whose real name was Margaret Lake, died following a short illness.
She rose to fame on the National Lottery after it launched in November 1994 and had written horoscopes for the Sun for close to 23 years. Her agent paid tribute to her this morning (March 9).
Dave Shapland said: "Without any question, she was Britain’s most famous astrologer by a million miles. She even became part of the English language – if a politician, somebody from showbiz or ordinary people in the street are asked a tricky question they will say ‘Who do you think I am, Mystic Meg?’."

Mystic Meg reportedly passed away at around 3.45am this morning. She was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in London last month suffering from flu.
During her stint on the National Lottery shows on the BBC between 1994 and 2000, Mystic Meg would look into her crystal ball and predict facts about future winners of the jackpot. Prior to her TV career, Lake worked in journalism for the News of the World before becoming the paper's regular astrologer.
