National League play-offs: Everything Notts County fans need to know

With the National League confirming the dates and venue for the play-offs earlier this month, Notts County are still waiting to discover which side they will meet in their semi-final clash on May 7.

The Magpies had their place in the top two of the division mathematically secured at the end of March following their 2-0 win away to Altrincham - Luke Williams' side now holding a 25-point lead over third-placed Chesterfield ahead of the final round of league games this weekend.

Notts welcome York City this Saturday (5:30pm kick-off) who all but confirmed their safety in the division last weekend following their 2-2 draw with Aldershot and results elsewhere.

But attention has quickly turned to who the Magpies will face in their semi-final fixture at Meadow Lane a week on Sunday - Notts could have one of three teams as potential opponents, with Barnet, Bromley, and Boreham Wood offering tough opposition for Williams' side.

Barnet's 1-1 draw with Maidenhead at the weekend means Dean Brennan's side will finish the campaign in fifth place, but who they will face will in the play-off eliminator be decided on the final day following Boreham Wood's defeat to Gateshead on Tuesday evening.

Just one point separates Luke Garrard's side in seventh and Bromley in sixth, with The Wood arguably having the more favourable tie as they welcome already relegated Yeovil Town to Meadow Park while Bromley travel to Oldham Athletic.

It has been confirmed that the National League play-offs will start on Tuesday, May 2, with the fifth-placed team taking on the sixth-placed team in the first eliminator (7:45pm kick-off), with the other taking place the following day on Wednesday, May 3 (7:45pm kick-off).

Both semi-finals will then take place four days later, with Notts facing the winner of the first eliminator on Sunday, May 7 (12:30pm kick-off) - the third-placed team facing the other at 3:30pm.

And the National League play-off final will be played at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 13 (3:30pm kick-off), with the winner rewarded with a place in the football league.

Here is the National League play-off schedule:

  • Eliminator A (5th v 6th) – Tuesday, 2 May - 7.45pm
  • Eliminator B – (4th v 7th) – Wednesday, 3 May – 7.45pm
  • Semi-final (2nd v Eliminator A Winner) – Sunday, 7 May – 12.30pm
  • Semi-final – (3rd v Eliminator B Winner) – Sunday 7 May – 3.30pm
