National Katsu Curry Day: Wagamama is giving out free curries to students

It’s National Katsu Carry Day and Wagamama is treating students to a tasty meal for free. The restaurant chain is handing out curries to those studying, and is even giving people a chance to win unlimited katsu curries for a whole year.

University students and apprentices signed up to “noodle union” will be able to go into their local restaurant to bag a freebie, but be quick, as every restaurant is offering just 50 free curries between 3pm and 5pm today (Wednesday, September 27).

YouTuber Niko Omilana was the one to launch the deal by going along to the Soho store to announce the start of National Katsu Day.

But if katsu curry does not float your boat, do not fret, because there are other goodies available up for grabs.

As well as the traditional katsu, lucky winners can pick from chicken, hot chicken, yasai, hot yasai, vegatsu, and hot vegatsu curries.

In addition to National Katsu Curry Day, Wagamama is also launching an exciting new initiative for its noodle union members. Introducing “Student Sundays”, a series of events that will run for three consecutive weeks from September 17 which will see students able to grab a bargain.

During the scheme and between 2pm and 5pm on Student Sundays, noodle union members will receive exclusive access to a secret dish with the purchase of any main course, available at 25 Wagamama restaurants across the UK.

‌Those taking part in London are London Camden, London North Greenwich, London Holborn, London Putney, London Bankside, London Kingston and London Wembley.

Max Simons-Dukes, Senior Brand Manager at Wagamama, said: “With the start of university just around the corner, we want to make freshers one to remember, which is why we’re excited to be serving up katsu across the country to our noodle union members, with one winning Wagamama for a whole year. We’re also pleased to announce the launch of Student Sundays, which will give students and apprentices more safe places to hang out and enjoy some exclusive food on us.”

‌Wagamama noodle union President, Niko Omilana, added: “I’m excited to bring back the iconic National Katsu Curry Day, and this year, it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. I’m also pleased to be launching a secret new dish as part of Student Sundays for my fellow noodle union members. Make sure to sign up for the noodle union so you don’t miss out on a free katsu, the secret dish and other epic prizes throughout the year.”
