The National Association of Manufacturers has expressed concern over the ongoing port strike and is urging congressional leaders to take action if President Joe Biden does not intervene. The CEO of the NAM, in an open letter, called on Biden to step in and end the strike, emphasizing the importance of a swift resolution to the impasse.

While Biden has the authority to end the strike with a presidential order, he has thus far refrained from doing so despite mounting pressure. The NAM has highlighted the potential role of Congress in resolving the situation, noting that passing a law to call dock workers back to work would require Biden's approval or a veto override.

The current standoff raises questions about the mechanisms available to address labor disputes of this nature. The NAM's appeal to congressional leaders underscores the urgency of the situation and the need for decisive action to prevent further disruptions to the flow of goods through the affected ports.
