It’s an underrated and undervalued position but it can blow up a lot of things if you don’t have a good one. We’re talking about the long snapper position and the Ohio State football program just got a commitment from one of the best to do it at the high school level across the country.
Out of Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, Morrow Evans announced his commitment to the Buckeyes over Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Recruiting services don’t pay too much attention to long snappers, but according to Rubio Long Snapping, Evans is the second-best in the 2024 class.
Evans won’t be put on scholarship to start and will instead begin his career as a preferred walk-on, but despite that arrangement, there is a path to bigger and better things available, especially at such an important position on the field.

Evans will have competition. The Buckeyes have three long snappers currently on the roster with John Ferlmann, a redshirt sophomore who transferred from from Arizona State, as well as junior walk-ons Collin Johnson and Max Lomonico.
OSU has had some really good long snappers in recent memory one has carved out a niche and long career for himself in the NFL, Jake McQuaide.
