Nathan Young-Coombes speaks after making Brentford debut and praises structural set-up

Brentford enjoyed a third home win in four league games with a victory over Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Pontus Jansson, Yoane Wissa and Kristoffer Ajer gave the Bees a resounding victory, and more good news followed when Nathan Young-Coombes made his Premier League debut.

The 19-year-old has been on the lips of most Bees fans, having scored a bucketful of goals for the B Team since arriving from Rangers last summer.

Speaking to Football.London, Young-Coombes spoke on his pride in making his Premier League debut.

"It's something that I've obviously always wanted to do since I started in this game, and today was the day.", Young-Coombes said.

In his first action, the youngster was shoved to the ground, much to the anger of the home crowd. "Welcome to men's football, as they say! It's always good to get on. As I said, I've always wanted to do this, and today was the day."

Having arrived from Scotland last June, Young-Coombes says that the transition has been quite smooth and believes it offers the players from the B Team a pathway to the first team.

"I've always kind of changed teams since I was young, and me adapting to Brentford this season has been quite well and quick, and I've scored lots of goals for the B team, and hopefully, I can do it for the first team.

"The B Team has put me in good stride to play against men's first teams - I've done it all season. We've played against a variety of different teams, and this is the final hurdle and just trying to make it over.

"We're always slotting into the first team training, we're always being around the first team boys. It's just the way the B Team is set up, it allows us to slide into a Premier League game, and I can't give any more credit to the B Team staff to put me in places like today. Obviously, thanks go out to Brian [Riemer] and Thomas [Frank] for the debut."
