Furious Frank Lampard slammed his Everton flops for not having the "b*******" to play for the club in their dismal FA Cup dismantling.
And Nathan Patterson was once again an unused substitute in the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in another horror result that has Toffee fans wondering what is going on at Goodison.
The former Rangers right-back moved for a club record fee in January but more than two months later has just 45 minutes to his name - in the win over Boreham Wood in the previous round of the competition.
And he could only watch as Patrick Vieira's men sent them crashing out with Wembley on the line before manager Lampard showed his fury.
Patterson's main competition for a place in the defence, Jonjoe Kenny and Seamus Coleman were both taken off in the thumping - the former at half-time - as Everton chased the game but it changed little.
And Lampard fumed: "There is only so much you can keep trying to butter someone up to give them confidence.
"We are playing at the cut-throat end of football here.
"This is a cup quarter-final to get to Wembley and if you haven’t got the confidence to play, you can quickly flip it and say have you got the b******* to play?
"Sorry, excuse me but that is the football reality. If you fall somewhere in the middle then don’t worry about it.
"We didn’t play that badly today and Palace didn’t play that well and we lost 4-0 because of a lack of confidence and a lack of what I just said.
"It wasn’t tactics. Tactics showed in the first 20 minutes Palace couldn’t get out of their half."
