Nathan Patterson names the Rangers and Everton similarities he's found as star savours 'unbelievable' trait

Nathan Patterson says similarities between Everton and Rangers fans has brought a home from home feel as he reflected on a year outside the Glasgow bubble.

While injury has disrupted his progress in spells, the Scotland international moved to the Merseyside Premier League side in January 2022 after finding it hard to make it past captain James Tavernier in the Light Blues squad. He has also established himself as the number one right-back for Steve Clarke on the international scene, and he'll hope to contribute to Sean Dyche's side surviving in the top flight.

Speaking to club media, when asked how fans on both sides of the border compare, Patterson admits he's found pleasure in the similarities between Rangers supporters and those at Goodison Park. He said: "It has been great. It has been a different challenge moving down and moving away from home, especially alone. But I have enjoyed it and they have taken me under their wing straight away.

"I am looking forward to kicking on. It is quite similar, both fans are very passionate and they really love their club, you can tell from the way that they cheer you on.

"You want to go and give them something to cheer about. You can see that and every week we are going to get a travelling support and home games are always a sell-out.

"It is great to have that backing, especially in derbies. The fans are unbelievable down here."
